We were at the official unveiling of the new Jeep Wrangler. Check out our Facebook Live video for deets on all the new specs and capabilities.
Specs, Inside and Out
The new engine options are varied, and an overall improvement all around. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is available for the 4×4, producing 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This is available in an all-new six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
There is also the option for the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, producing 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. In 2019 there will also be a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 producing 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, connected to the eight-speed automatic. This option will be available on four-door Wranglers only.
Jeep has increased the length of the two-door Wrangler by 2.8 inches, and the four door by 3.8 inches. The Wrangler body is just slightly wider by 0.2 inches, and the wheels have been moved apart for an additional 2.5 inches of track width. Width and height for both remain almost the same as the previous generation.
Another plus with the 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s redesign is in already solid approach, breakover, and departure angles. The new models are about two degrees better, which means these babies can go steep.
